Helix wins the 2013 Packaging Oscar

An innovative "easy-to-open" cork and glass solution receives an award in France.

HELIX, an innovative wine packaging solution for the popular premium, co-developed by Amorim and O-I, has won the 2013 Packaging Oscar sponsored by the French publication "Emballages Magazine".

HELIX had its world premiere at the last Vinexpo wine fair. The new "easy-to-open" HELIX combines an ergonomically-designed natural cork stopper and a glass bottle with an internal thread finish in the neck, therefore combining all the benefits of cork and glass - quality, technical performance, durability and sustainability.

Helix is covered by three patents, a clear testimony of innovation and creativity inherent in this packaging solution for the fast turnaround wine segment.

The product met with an overwhelming consumer acceptance in markets such as France, UK, USA and China. HELIX is the result of a four-year partnership between Corticeira Amorim, the world's leader in the cork industry, and O-I, the world's leader in glass packaging, both companies boasting over a century of experience in the wine market.
